He married Leona Boney, at Wauchula, Hardee County Florida on May 15, 1939. Leona was born about 1921 in DeSoto, Florida. They were living with Leona's parents at the time of the 1940 census. They divorced in 1945 in Hardee County, Florida. The couple had one son, Thomas Edward Jr., born 12 August 1940 in Florida.
Edward was drafted 16 Oct 1940 in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida. Edward re-enlisted in the Army 16 Feb 1946 at Camp Blanding, Florida. He was enlisted in the Corps of Military Police Branch of the Army. Edward died 31 May 1959 in France. He and his wife, Edna died in the apartment in which they lived from accidental gassing.
Leona married Johnnie Eston Clark. They were killed in a train wreck 9 March 1961 in Plant City Florida.
