As a young man Sidney had worked alongside his mother in a shoe factory in Millersburg, Dauphin County, PA. As late as 1940 he was living with his half-brother Richard Allison's adoptive family (the Witmers) as a laborer on the farm. Near the end of his life Sidney became confined to a wheelchair, and moved to Marlow, Oklahoma where his mother, Sadie, and his stepfather, Rev. Nathan W. Jackson, cared for him until his death. Sidney died on 01 July 1945 at age 43. His mother Sadie died the following month. Sidney is buried alongside his mother in the Jackson family plot.
