Services for Frank E. Dicus, 94, Ada, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Ada, the Rev. Dickson Rial officiated. Burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Dicus died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at a local hospital. He was born Jan. 24, 1916, to John Bell and Mary Ada Cole Dicus in Walters, Okla.

In his early years, he worked in the oil field and as a steam fitter. He was in the grocery business from 1940 to 1978 where he owned and operated Dicus Supermarket. Mr. Dicus was a member of the Ada Retail Grocers Association, serving as president in the 1950s, was a charter member of the Science and National Resources Board and served on the Affiliated Foods Board of Directors and the Oklahoma Retail Grocer's Association's board of directors. Mr. Dicus owned and operated Dicus Cycle and Marine in the early 1970s. He was a former president of the Ada Lions Club and served as president of the Ada Chamber of Commerce in 1961. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.

He and Mildred Kinsey were married Dec. 8, 1935. She died Nov. 15, 1977. Mr. Dicus and Betty Cason were married Dec. 26, 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; one son, Jim Dicus and wife Ann, Ada; one daughter, Cindy Halpern and husband Steve, Oklahoma City; one brother, Jack Dicus and wife Barbara, Fillmore, Calif.; grandchildren, Kim Holton and husband Russell, Christopher Halpern, Tammy Wilbert and husband Richard, Christi Lin Wharton and husband Joe B., and Linda Barnett and husband Mark; five great-grandchildren Caleb Holton, Luke Holton, Bryan Roppel, Brenden Barnett and Taylor Barnett; three stepchildren, Karen Smith and husband Michael, Tom Cason and wife Barbara, and Robin Barry and husband David; nine step grandchildren, Molly Cason Purvin and husband Mike, Lauren Cason, Karen Cason, Lisa Cason, Steven Smith and wife Christi, Bryan Smith and David Smith, Katy Bumpus and Mica Bumpus; and one step-great-grandchild, Kaitlyn Smith.

He was preceded in death by a son, Eddie Dicus; two grandsons, Jay Dicus and Mike Dicus, and Mike's wife Leslie; and a brother, Raymond Dicus.

Bearers were Christopher Halpern, Steven Smith, Caleb Holton, Russell Holton, Mark Barnett and Bryan Roppel. Honorary bearers are Ted Savage, Johnny Hodges, Larry Drennan, Jim Hamby, Jimmie Thomas, Willard Rhynes, Dale Peay, Tommy Peay, Bob Hobson and Johnnie Brassfield.

The family stated that those who wish, may make memorials to the Mike and Leslie Dicus Scholarship Fund at the University of Oklahoma Foundation, P.O. Box 1487, Ada, OK, 74821.
