Zelona Pearl RouLaine Willcutt
Daughter of Pearl Aurelia Phelps and James Thorney RouLaine. Born in Brent, Al. during the flu epidemic of 1918/1919. At the age of four months her mother and brother died of the flu. she moved to Birmingham, Al. to live with older siblings as the Depression era was approaching. As a young adult, she became an accomplished musician, learning to play the piano and later, the accordian and organ. She Married at the age of 18 and was able to use her musical talents, both vocally and instrumentally, in the ministry of her husband, B.C. Willcutt and father in law C.C. Willcutt through out Alabama. As her husband branched out into his evangelistic ministry, they moved to Columbus, Ms. involved in a daily radio ministry, tent revivals, street preaching, and church plantings. The radio ministry evolved into a network of radio stations. During those years as her family grew, she trained her four daughters and they became known as the "The Singing Willcutt Family"
The radio ministry as "Gospel on Wheels, On Air, and in The Air" In 1961 the family moved to Selmer, Tn. and B.C. became a full-time pastor in a local church for the next 27 years She complimented his ministry as piano/organist for that church and dedicated Sunday School teacher. She taught piano in local schools for 35 years aqnd served her Baptist Assoc. as pianist for many years. She was a loving and faithful wife for 67 years, a devoted mother to her daughters and a beloved grandmother. She led an exemplary Christian life and as the Bible says: "her children will rise and call her blessed" and they certainly do. She lived her life serving God and her fellow man.
