Norine V. Chavez-Cordova, age 63, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 18, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born and raised in Belen, where she and her family were long-time members of Our Lady of Belen Catholic Church.
After graduating from Belen High School, Norine attended The School of Cosmetology, was certified and became a beautician for a short period. She then pursued an education at TVI, which led to her job with the New Mexico Mid-Cap. She became an outstanding employee, and spent the next 34 years helping so many people. Norine took pride in her work and the many friends she made along the way.
After marrying Vivian J. Cordova, the two made their home in Los Lunas, where they were members of San Clemente Catholic Church. Norine was able to enjoy several years of retirement doing the things she loved most. Gardening, baking, sewing and knitting were some of her passions. But the thing she enjoyed most was spending time with her husband and her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Espiridion and Eloisa Gabaldon-Chavez; brother, Adan Chavez; and her grandparents, Juan and Carolina Chavez and Pedro and Virginia Gabaldon. Norine is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Vivian J. Cordova; daughter, Avalon Cordova and her husband, Robert Gonzales; 10 grandchildren, Gino and Jade Gonzales, Anthony, Becky and Celina Gonzales, Kimberly, Anthony and Dominic Gonzales and Lisa and Gabrielle Romero; two brothers, Leroy Chavez and his wife, Lisa, of Monroe, Wash., John Chavez and his wife, Iris of Tucumcari; and her aunt, Sophie Sachs of Barstow, Calif. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
All services will be held at San Clemente Catholic Church beginning with a visitation at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 23, with a rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at San Clemente Catholic Cemetery.
Urnbearers will be her grandchildren, Gino and Jade Gonzales. Sign Norine's online register book at www.romerofuneralhomenm.com. Romero Funeral Home, 609 N. Main St., Belen.
