         Peterson Died Sunday Morning.
                              _____

Andrew Peterson died on Sunday morning at the Lumberman's Hospital from the effects of the wounds inflicted on Monday evening previous by John Pryde. An autopsy was held Sunday afternoon, at which time it was ascertained that neither of the two bullets that hit him in the back of the head penetrated the skull. The ball that entered his head near the right eye and ranged downward was the one which caused death. J. A. Peterson, a son of the dead man, arrived in the city from Belgrade, Nicollet county, on Monday, to take charge of his father's remains. He stated that his father was 57 years old, and that his home had been at Mankato. He was a widower, his wife having died three years ago, and he has twelve children all of whom live in Minnesota. The remains were taken to Belgrade for burial. (Brainerd Dispatch, 06 March 1896, p. 4, c. 4)

                        ies at Brainerd.

Brainerd, Minn., March 3.—Andrew Peterson died to-day from the effects of gunshot wounds, inflicted by John Pryde last Monday night. Pryde has made a complete confession, stating that he took Peterson into the country and shot him three times, leaving him for dead, his reason being that he was mad at him, but the crime was committed for robbery. It is learned that Pryde had made arrangements to take another man into the country Tuesday night, but was jailed before he had a chance to commit the second crime which he had evidently planned. He says he made a mistake in not cutting Peterson's throat and then burning the body to make sure of the job. He has not been informed of his victim's death. (Brainerd Dispatch, 06 March 1896, p. 2, c. 9)
