Steilberg, Donald Joseph "Steamboat"
STEILBERG, DONALD JOSEPH "STEAMBOAT," 81, of Taylorsville, went to be with his Heavenly Father on July 25, 2006. Donald was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Plum Creek Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for 30 years. Also, he was a member of Harrods Creek Baptist Church of Brownsboro. He was an Army veteran of World War II, a 1950 graduate of the University of Kentucky, a retired Civil Engineer for Steilberg Construction and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers. He specialized in building churches and schools, including Beechland Baptist, Shively Baptist, Mignon Hall at Morehead State, and Orange County Hospital in Paoli, Indiana. He was co-owner and President of Erhmann's Bakery. Donald traveled to the Holy Land in 1981 with Dr. Laverne Butler. He also traveled to much of the U.S. and faraway Canada including the Yellowknife (NT), Newfoundland and Hearst, ON. He fulfilled his obligation to his Lord and Savior by never missing an opportunity to witness to all who would listen. He will be missed more than words can express. He was preceded in death by parents, Arthur J. Steilberg, Sr. & Nellie Mae Kesselring Steilberg, and a sister, Emma Alice Summerfield. He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruth Naomi Goodman Steilberg, his brother Arthur J. Steilberg, Jr., and two children, Dr. Stephen C. Steilberg and Rebecca Anne Steilberg-Oatson.
