Thomas Smith dies

Services are scheduled Saturday at 2 p.m. from Champions Funeral Home for longtime Sheridan
resident Thomas A. Smith, who died Wednesday
night at Sheridan County Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born June 7, 1890, in Iowa, Mr. Smith resided at 616 Sumner in Sheridan. He was a machinist for the CB&Q Railroad for 30 years, retiring there in
1948. Then he was employed as an attendant at a local service station until his escond retirement in 1955.
On Sept. 4, 1910, he married Martha Maxwell, who preceded him in death on July 17, 1953.
He married Nellie Zingg on Jan. 9, 1954, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 14, 1960.
Also preceding him in death were six sisters, five brothers and three daughters, May and Rose
Smith and Mrs. Lela Pfister.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Nordgren of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Nola Jelly of Laurel, Mont., and Mrs. Nyla Sikora of Sheridan; Clyde F. Smith a son, of Sheridan; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was a member of Sheridan Lode No. 8, AF&AM for 57 years and will be buried in the Masonic Circle of Sheridan Municipal Cemetery
with the local Masonic lodge conducting the services.
