ELIJAH PEASE DIED EARLY THIS MORNING
Death of Pioneer Resident of Adams County Occurred at 2 a.m.
Elijah Pease, pioneer and highly esteemed resident of Adams County died of pneumonia this morning at 2 o'clock, at his home, 1 mile north and 5 miles east of Bluffton. His death comes as a profound sorrow to a wide circle of friends and relatives.
Born in Preble County, Ohio, a son of John Adam Pease and Barbara Winters Pease, he had reached the age of 85 years, 4 months and 25 days at the time of death The date of his birth was August 1, 1837. In March, 1861, he was married to Mary V. Walters, who died on December 6, 1920. He had been a resident of Adams County fifty-five years.
Four children survive, as follows: John Pease of Kokomo; Joseph Pease of Honduras; Mrs. Mary Lillian Roush of Chicago and Mrs. C. P. G. Seabold of Bluffton. Two children died in childhood. One sister surviving is Mrs. Barbara Ott, of Preble County, Ohio, who is one hundred years old.
Fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Honduras church Thursday morning at 10:30 o'clock, with Rev. Payne in charge. Interment will be in the Zion cemetery.
