Mrs. Stanford was born in Champaign-Urbana, IL. She married Col. Leslie E. Stanford of Flora, they would have been married 70 years in November. He preceded her in death Feb. 24, 2010.
She supported her husband through more than 20 duty assignments in the U. S. and abroad for 30 years. After his retirement, they traveled for more than 17 years by Air Stream to almost every state, interspersed with trips to Europe and the South Seas.
She was a member of "Midnight Angels," who met bereaved military families traveling from posts in the Far East. She helped run a lending closet for military families, and was Sunshine chairman for the Air Stream group.
Survivors are two daughters, Sue and Mary Ann. She was preceded in death by her husband.
A Chapel service with burial to follow will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Nelsen Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
