Leigh Abernethy Kimble was born April 10, 1964 in Wake County and was a resident of Buncombe County for the past ten years of her life. She was a member of Swannanoa First Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Mars Hill College and Appalachian State University, where she received her Bachelors and Masters in Music Education, respectively. She passed on her love for music as a teacher in the public school systems of Dayton, Ohio, Durham County, and Buncombe County. Leigh taught chorus at both Owen and Valley Springs Middle Schools. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and teacher and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Kimble is preceded in death by her father, R. Willis Abernethy.
She is survived by her husband, Keith Kimble of Swannanoa; son, Myles Kimble of Swannanoa; daughter, Emily Kimble of Swannanoa; mother, Jean Abernethy of Marion; brother, Jay Abernethy of Advance; and all family, friends, and caring members of the medical community who by their actions showed concern.
