Mrs. Serinda Abbott, widow of Dabney Abbott, died suddenly at her home near Perrowville Wednesday, August 4th of heart affection. She was 74 years old. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church, and had been for many years. She is survived by six sons and four daughters, E.G. Abbott, of Bedford City; Marcus, W.D., T.A., D.B. and Calloway Abbott and Mrs. R.C. Saunders, Mrs. Mason, Mrs. Hawkins and Ms. Lankford. She is also survived by 74 grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted at the home by Rev. J.R. Sturgis, and the body brought here for interment in Longwood Cemetery beside her husband Friday. The service at the grave was conducted by Dr. W.W. Royall. Pallbearers were J.L. Miles, H.L. Spencer, J.T. Inge, O.A. Millner, J.B. Inge, Hugh Hawkins.
