AGAWAM, Mass. -- Jessie Donaldson (Mackenzie) Fuller, 84, a longtime active resident of Agawam was called safely home on Monday July 30, 2007 at Heritage Hall where she had been residing. Jessie was born in Holyoke on December 9, 1922 the daughter of Jean Lowe Harris and John S. Mackenzie, WWI Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and Mackenzie Field in Holyoke was named for him. Jessie attended local schools and attended LaSalle Junior College, Forsythe Nursing School and Temple University Dental School where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree. Most recently she was employed by the City of Springfield School System as a dental hygienist. She married Stanley C. Fuller in 1948 and he later passed away in 1982. Jessie was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and was very active in veteran's activities. Jessie served the community for many years in a number of roles. She was past president of the Agawam and Feeding Hills Women's Clubs, served as both Girl and Cub Scout Leader, member of the Agawam City Council, Agawam School Board Member, Town Meeting Member, served on Mayor's Council, Agawam Board of Health and Republican Town Committee. She is survived by her son, Rev. Marc A. Fuller and his wife Mellissa of Center Lovell, ME; a daughter, Alison Fleury Pierce and her husband David of Northfield, MA. Jessie was also predeceased by her brother James Mackenzie. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 11:30 AM in the Agawam Congregational Church, 745 Main St., Agawam. The burial with Military Honor will be at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at the Colonial Forastiere Funeral Home, 985 Main St., Agawam. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jessie's name may be made to a Veterans' Organization in the state.
