AUTO ACCIDENT, 1965. Two clippings on the death of Lula Lurene. Lula had been honored as a Gold Star Mother in a Veteran's Day ceremony in Farmington. While driving them home she was hit by a pickup truck that crossed the center line, about 1-mile north of the Colorado-New Mexico state line, on US 550. The other driver was uninjured. Jesse, 71, was thrown from the car, and was taken to Mercy Hospital in Durango, with head lacerations, a concussion, and rib injuries. Lula died at the scene of massive head injuries. She was 67 years 11 months 25 days of age.
