Kenneth A. Stangle Sr., 82, of Olney died 5:50 p.m. Monday (June 8, 1998) in his home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Summers-Kistler Funeral Home, Olney, with the Rev. Gary B. Ryden officiating. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday with 7:30 p.m. Loyal Order of Moose Pilgrim Ritual Service.

Burial will be in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney. Memorials: Hospice of Southeastern Illinois or Moose Lodge.

Mr. Stangle was born in Richland County on May 22, 1916, the son of George and Myra Fritschle Stangle. He was a retired farmer and saw miller. He joined the Loyal Order of Moose in February 1958. While active in the Moose Fraternity he held offices at the local Moose Lodge as Prelate Jr. Governor, Governor and Jr. Past Governor and served on many special committees. In the Moose District 11 he served in all four offices. He also served as District 11 President. He earned the title of Pilgrim in 1990 at Mooseheart. He was also a member of Olney Elks Club, Olney Eagles Lodge and Trinity Lutheran Church, Olney. He married Rosemary Roth in Stringtown on Jan. 29, 1942.

Surviving are his wife; sons, Charles Stangle of Pineville, La.; Kenneth Stangle Jr. of Aurora; grandchildren, Brian, Jason and Jeremy Stangle and Julie Childers; great-grandchildren, Kevin and Austin Stangle and Amber Childers; special friends, Nancy and Stacie Stangle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Harold and aunt, Nadine Fritschle.
