SPRINGFIELD - On Monday, July 14, 2003, Charles R. "Charlie" Denver, 80, died at the Chapin Center Nursing home in Springfield. Born in Springfield on February 18, 1923, he was the son of the late Charles O. & Dorothy (Mahler) Denver. Raised and educated in Springfield, he was a graduate of Technical High School, and served our country as a decorated veteran of WWII serving in the U S Army 421st AAF Base Unit. Prior to retirement, he was employed for many years with various trucking firms in the greater Springfield area. Additionally, he was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Mr. Denver leaves three daughters, Linda J. Williams with her husband Robert of Springfield, Charlene R. Pixley with her husband Chuck of Springfield, & Diane E. Abdow of East Longmeadow, a brother James Denver, three sisters, Ruth MacBrian of Springfield, Dorothy Gates of Wilbraham, and Carol Thompson, three grandchildren, Lauren & Christopher Abdow & Daniel Myslinski. A committal service is scheduled for Thursday, 9 a.m., at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Agawam. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sampson Family Chapels of Springfield.
