Nellie Walker Services Here March 26
Funeral services for Mrs. Nellie Phillips Walker held March 26 at 708 State Street Shum-Novinger Funeral Home, were conducted by Rev. J. Milton Kinney, Bedford Methodist minister. Mrs. Walker died March 23 at Immanuel Hospital, Omaha, at the age of 77 years, seven months, 26 days. Interment was at Washington Cemetery, Gravity, Iowa.
Included in the services was the following obituary:
Nellie Phillips Walker, daughter of Lewis and Lucinda Phillips, was born on a arm near Conway, Iowa, July 28, 1886. During her childhood she moved with her parents to a farm near Gravity where she grew to womanhood. At an early age in life she joined the Methodist church, a membership she retained throughout her life.
On Feb. 9, 1908, she was united in marriage to Ellis Ray Walker. To this happy home six children were born, namely, Mrs. Darlene Johnson, Clarinda, Ia., Mrs. Leoma Beckett, Omaha, Nebr., Lewis Walker, Bedford, Ia., Waite Walker, Roswell, New Mexico, Mrs. Gwendolyn Stogdill, Tacoma, Wash., and Lura Esther, who died in infancy.
She is survived by her five children and their families; one sister, Lura Hill; one brother, Fred Phillips, both of Tulsa, Okla.; five grandchildren, Randall Lee and Janet Stogdill, Tacoma, Wash., Dennis Waite and Mary Lyndell Walker of Roswell, New Mexico, and Barbara Ann Beckett, Omaha, Nebr., and a host of friends. May she rest in peace.
