Chapin - Services for Ruben O. "Jack" Derrick, 73, will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 22, 2004 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6—8 p.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Chapin Chapel. The family will be at the home of Rothell and Nell Derrick. Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 215 St. Thomas Church Road, Chapin, SC 29036. Mr. Derrick died Thursday, August 19, 2004. Born in Chapin, he was the son of the late Willie E. "Bill" Derrick and Ruth Bickley Derrick. He was a Corporal in the United States Army, Infantry Division from Oct. 10, 1951 to July 11, 1953 and fought in the Korean War. Mr. Derrick was a retired carpenter and a member of St. Thomas Lutheran Church. He is survived by his sisters, Pattie D. Krell of West Columbia and Judy D. Price of Leesville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Willie B. "Pete" and Frances Derrick, W.A. "Slick" and Martha Derrick and Rothell and Nell Derrick all of Chapin; and many nieces and nephews.
