Stella Mae was married a 3rd time to a Jessie Jordan according to her obituary. I have not been able to find a marriage record at this point for Jesse Albert Jordan and Stella Mitchell Douglas Fowler, but I have researched the Jesse/Jessie Jordan’s who lived in the Camden, Tennessee area, and Pvt. Jesse Albert Jordan is the only one that fits to be her Jesse Jordan. The other likely candidate was still married during the years that the marriage had to occur and his wife survived him.
Both Stella Fowler and Jesse Albert Jordan lost their spouses in 1955, so a possible marriage for the couple could have likely occurred as early as 1956.
Some sources and family trees only list a 6th child for Dossie and Nicy Mitchell listed with the name of Zorah, Belle, or Bellezorah. On the 1900 federal census two children are listed in the Mitchell household – Vader and Bellezorah P. By the 1910 census, three children are listed: Vadie, Stella and Charlie. Stella and Charlie are listed as being born after 1900, but later census records, social security, etc records all show Stella as being born in either Aug 1898 or Aug 1899 which matches the birth month listed for Bellezorah in 1900 as Aug 1898. Also on the 1900 census, Nicy Mitchell states she was the mother of 2 children and both children were living. On the 1910, she stated she gave birth to 3 children and all 3 children were living. To me all evidence supports Stella and Bellezorah P. Michell being the same person.
