The 1900 Census for Bismarck Township, Hot Spring County, Arkansas, Sheet 18B, lines 42-48, shows John and Nora A., Nora's brother Albert SAUNDERS, three children of John and Nora: Myrtle, Addie and Oline. It also shows John's daughter, Emma L., the daughter from his first marriage to Matilda Jennette BRAY. The 1900 census shows Nora said she was the mother of 4, and 3 children were still living.
The 1910 Census, Township 8, Bryan County, Oklahoma, Sheet 2A, lines 45-50, shows three more children, Willie, Alfred and Thelma, all born in Oklahoma. This census shows Nora as the mother of 9 children and 6 still living.
In conversations with daughters Mrs. Myrtle Mary SUMNER and Mrs. Olene J. CONNALLY, I was told their mother had a daughter named Maime, who died at an early age. Date of birth and death not known. Maime was probably the child listed as having died on the 1900 census. The 2 other children listed as having died (see the 1910 census) were son Charlie, born and died 18 July 1901, and probably the daughter Lois.
The last child born to John and Nora was Louis. He was born 19 April 1912. Louis told me his mother died the same day he was born, and that he went to live with relatives, Franklin and Martha (HARDAGE) CASH. Frank and Martha adopted Louis and his name was changed to Louis Hardage CASH. Martha was John Monroe Hardage's sister.
Nora's daughters, Myrtle and Olene, told me that Nora's middle name was Elizabeth. Olene also said that Nora was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Nora's birth date was from the 1900 Census. Nora's maiden name found as SANDERS & SAUNDERS. Daughter Olene's name also found as Oline. Daughter Addie was Margaret Addie. "Addie" is possibly the middle name or nickname. Addie's first husband was Walter M. "Bo" WILSON.
