Born at Pine Grove, Gulargambone.
Son of John and Mary Murphy, of Pine Grove, Brightling, New South Wales.

He was a 32 year old forest guard, when he enlisted in January 1916.
At the beginning of 1918, he was given leave and travelled to Ireland. He became unwell, and developed a number of medical conditions.
A local woman, Mrs. O.E.H. Beatty visited him frequently, and wrote to his mother on his behalf.

Arthur Andrew Murphy, aged 34, a bachelor, a Private in the 19th A.I.F, from Australia, died on 2 June 1918, at King George V Hospital, Dublin.
The cause of death was Dysentery, Abscess of Liver, certified.
