MAX J. NICHOLSON

Max J. Nicholson was born in Keya Paha County, Nebraska March 26, 1917 to James and Ida Runte Nicholson. He attended School District #17 near Springview, Nebraska.

He was a rancher and cattle raiser with his father and brother Dale until his retirement in 1969. He moved to Norfolk in 1975. He was a member of the American Hereford Association.

On December 15, 1971 he married Augusta Saltz at Ewing, Nebraska. They lived from 1971 to 1975 in Springview. Mrs. Nicholson died December 14, 1988.

Max is survived by three nieces, Mrs. Henry (Barbara) Richardson of Lyonsville, Iowa, Mary Wentworth of Topeka, Kansa, and Dorothy Van Pelt of Washington State; one nephew, Lonnie Wentworth of Texas; a brother-in-law, Artice Wentworth of Bassett, Nebraska; and a sister-in-law, Vera Nicholson of Atlantic, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Augusta; two brothers, Dale and Donald Nicholson; and one sister, Ruby Wentworth.

Max Nicholson of Norfolk passed away Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Stanton Health Center at Stanton, Nebraska, at the age of 87. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the Howser-Fillmer Mortuary with Rev. Jim Walasky officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Springview, Nebraska, with Pastor Sam Courts officiating. pallbearers were Don Jensen, Wayne Wilson, Al Vobr, Dale Bullock, Bev Throener, and Glen Schrantz.
