When a small child she came with her parents to Keya Paha County where she attended rural schools and grew to womanhood.
She was married to Ney Luse at Ainsworth, Nebraska on October 3, 1907, and to them eight children were born. In 1914 they took a homestead seven miles west of Meadville in Brown County. After proving up on the homestead, they moved to Ainsworth where Mr. Luse was employed by the Standard Oil Company. In 1916 they bought a farm two miles west of Meadville in Keya Paha County. Mr. Luse died in 1943, but Mrs. Luse and the family continued to operate the farm.
She was married to Clarence Groves in June 1950, and they operated the farm until the fall of 1969 when they retired and moved to Ainsworth. Mr. Groves died May 23, 1972. About a year ago Mrs. Groves moved from Ainsworth to California to be near her children.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; two sons, Melvin and Earl Luse, and one brother, George Williams. Among the survivors are her children, Dale, Vera Newfelt, Bea Bridge, Ney Luse, Jr., Betty Waters; four step-children, Jacob, Richard and Clarence Groves and Charlot Blair; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Ollie Dillon; Mrs. Mary Clark, Pearl Williams and Mrs. Ruth Hedrick; and one brother, Frank Williams.
