Born Alice Meadows in Stewart County, Georgia [on] Oct[ober] 16, 1862, she moved to Longview, Texas with her parents as a young girl. She was married to John W. Peace there [on] Dec[ember] 28, 1886.
The couple left Texas in 1908, moving to Brinkman, Okla[homa]. They came to Fletcher in 1911 and had maintained the family home here since that time.
Mrs. Peace was a member of the Fletcher Methodist Church where last rites will be held at 2:30 pm Monday [03 May 1948]. Rev. Leroy Simmons, pastor, will officiate with burial in [the] Fletcher Cemetery [under the] direct[ion] of Wisener Funeral Home.
Mrs. Peace and her husband, prominent residents of this community, had 11 sons and daughters, seven of whom survive. They include A. E. Peace and Mrs. Russell Constant [of] Fletcher[, Oklahoma], R. F. Peace [of] Pacific Grove, Calif[ornia], J. S. Peace [of] Siloam Springs, Ark[ansas], Mrs. John Cost [of] Riverside, Calif[ornia], Mrs. Julia Davis [of] Guymon, Okla[homa], and Mrs. Lorena Johnson [of] Santa Rosa, [New Mexico].
Survivors in addition to the husband and children include 27 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. F. L. Birdsong [of] Kilgore, Texas; and Mrs. Julia Robinson [of] Longview, Texas; three brothers, M. C. and Charles Meadows of Longview[, Texas] and Sam Meadows [of] Long Beach, Calif[ornia] will attend the rites.
Selected bearers are Ed Newcomb, P. B. Shumate, Marvin Peacock, E. C. Johnson, Jim Weaver, and R. L. Beam.
