Gertrude Barlett Turner, 86, passed away June 10, 2000 in Chico, Calif. She was born in Vernal on Jan. 22, 1914 to Henry and Clara Louesa Bartlett.

She graduated from high school, and attended Brigham Young University. She married William Marion Turner on March 10, 1938 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They settled in Jensen where they raised their five children.

The couple moved to Chico in 1995 to live with their daughter.

Gertrude was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and an active member of the LDS Church where she served faithfully in many positions for many years. She also served as the postmaster in Jensen for 13 years.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William; three sons, Bart (Sharlene) Turner, Whitney, Idaho; Karl (Ann) Turner, San Jose, Calif.; and Loyal (Geri) Turner, Jensen; and one daughter, Sherry (Everett) Southam, Chico;.
She is also survived by a sister, Laura Gray, Springville; brother, Lester (Fern) Bartlett, Tridell; and 27 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Clara Davis, seven sisters, two brothers, and one grandson.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 19 at 11 a.m. In the Jensen LDS Ward Chapel.

Friends may call Sunday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Thomson Blackburn Vernal Mortuary and Monday one hour prior to services at the chapel.

Interment will be in the Jensen Cemetery under the direction of Thomson Blackburn Vernal Mortuary.
