Issei wife of Manshirō Abe of Ehime-ken, Ochi-gun, Hashihama-mura, aza Takabe (present-day Imabari-shi, Takabe). Immigrated to the Territory of Hawaiʻi in 1899 with her husband. Mother of former Hawaii Senate President and Hawaii State Supreme Court Justice Kazuhisa Abe (1914–1996).

　Funeral services for Mrs. Matsuyo Abe, 79, of Pepeekeo Mill, who died Friday in Hilo Memorial Hospital, will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Hawaii Funeral Home Chapel, followed by burial in Alae Cemetery.
　A native of Ehime Ken, Japan, she is survived by 3 sons, Senator Kazuhisa Abe and Kanichi Abe of Hilo and Koichi Abe of Pepeekeo.
