One of his sister were also interviewed. He did not change his name until he went to Utah because he did not want his family (Canning) to know about his whereabouts."

He married Diadamia "Damie" Wheeler Johnson 26 May 1872 in Johnson, Utah. She was born 22 Jun 1856 in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Joseph Ellis Johnson and Harriet Snider. They were the parents of eleven children. She died 28 Dec 1899 in Colonia Chuichupa, Mexico. He married Mary A.Baumann(Bowman), widow of Hyrum Judd, 12 May 1901 o in Colonia Juarez(Chuichupa), Mexico. She was born 30 Jul 1862 in Herisau, Switzerland, to Abraham Bowman (Baumann) and Anne Stricker. They were the parents of four children. He died 13 Nov 1920 Colonia Dublan, Mexico. Mary A. Bowman Judd Carlton died 9 Feb 1943 in Mesa, Arizona.
