Esther Sevier Hickman was born on Sept 25, 1905 and died on Sept 8, 1919. She was a daughter of Thomas Benjamin Hickman (1870-1929) and Mattie Belle Alley Hickman (1876-1921). She was a grandaughter of John Pinckney (1840-1891) and Malana Snow Alley.

John Pinckney Alley is also buried at this cemetery, just a few feet from her grave toward the northwest.

Ester Hickman, Sept ? - Sept ? , dau of TB & ?

While taking photos of the cemetery in September 2010, a marker for this person could not be located.

While visiting the cemetery on Feb 8,2012, using the list of names from the 1980 survey, I discovered a pile of rocks near the grave of my great grandfather, John Pinckney Alley, and started to investigate. (See fifth photo - you will have to click on the photo tab at the top of this page)

Many years of rotted leaves, pine needles, and vines covered the space I found. The grave appears to have been covered at one time with small white gravel. (See fourth photo - click tab at top)

All I found was the base of a headstone and over a dozen small pieces of a broken stone, none larger than 4". I was able to read "Born Sept" on one of the pieces. I am assuming that this is Esther's grave. I explored near to the grave I found, but was unable to locate the other one that was listed as Hickman (unknown).

Note: I brought home the pieces that were scattered under the leaves surrounding her grave. "T Hic" and "Born Sep" "Died" are the only recognizable inscriptions on the pieces found near the grave. I have added a photo of those three pieces, which joints fit together as pictured. (See third photo)

The next time I visited the cemetery I took a rake and continued searching for the second grave. I found what appeared to be at least four distinct areas of white pea gravel between the headstone I found previously and the fence to the south. I did not discover any more pieces of any headstones, nor did I find anymore bases.

In March 2013 I set the pieces of original stone into concrete and replaced them on her grave. (See second photo)

In May 2014 a memorial stone was placed on her grave. (top photo)

Directly to the west of John Pinckney Alley's grave are two rectangle outlinings of daffodils that are visible in the spring, which are obviously unmarked graves. (See listings of unknown memorials)
