#46969893:
RANSOM T. HARPER. Word was received here last week that Ransom T. Harper had departed from this life at his home in Modesto, California, on May 12, 1914, after a brief illness of six days, aged 55 years, 11 months and 24 days. Ransom T. Harper was born in Kentucky on May 18, 1848 and moved with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mariman Harper, to Republic county, Kansas. He lived on a farm near Cuba for many years. In 1894 he moved to California, where he has since made his home. He was well and favorably known in this city and his sudden death, following an operation for appendicitis, came as a shock to his many friends here. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn his death. The children are: Mrs. Sarah Isabelle Knight, David and Herbert Harper, all of Modesto; the other three children, Mrs. Jane Ewing, John and Thaddeus Harper, reside in the east. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family in their hour of sadness.
