Major League Baseball Umpire. For sixteen seasons (1969 to 1984), he worked games in the National League. Born David Leroy Davidson, he attended Wilmington College (Ohio), and briefly played Minor League ball, before turning to officiating. Following three years (1966 to 1968), at the Minor League level, Davidson was promoted to the Majors in 1969, and was behind the plate when Hank Aaron hit his historic 715th home run on April 8, 1974, which surpassed Babe Ruth in the record books. He worked home plate in what is perhaps one of the most memorable World Series games in Major league history; when Carlton Fisk hit his famed home run at Fenway Park, during game 6 of the 1975 Fall Classic. Among the other noted contests Davidson worked include the 1976 All-Star Game, and the 1982 World Series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers. During his career, he was a member of crews that worked five no-hit games. In addition to baseball, Davidson served as a college basketball official. He was inducted into the Texas Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
