David transferred to Company I, 4th Infantry on 30 May 1865 and was mustered out on 24 July 1865 at Louisville, Kentucky after serving 1 year, 6 months and 9 days. He served with his brother, William A. Walker.
David had moved back to Blount County, Tennessee by 1870.
