GALESBURG – Donald O. Bryant, 77, of Galesburg, died at 4:30 AM, Monday, August 23, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, August 26 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Curt Lipe and Scott Hancock will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, August 25 at the funeral home. Cremation will be accorded following the service and inurnment will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 27 at Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to OSF St. Mary's Hospice, American Cancer Society or to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund.
Don was born January 22, 1933 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of Edgar and Luella (Corley) Bryant. He was raised in Herrick, IL. He first married Cleo Lyle. He later married Carol Davis on December 5, 1975 in Kewanee. She survives, as do four sons, Donald W. (Janet) Bryant of Peoria, Terry (Christine) Bryant of Avon, IN, Jon (Linda) Davis of Leesville, LA and David (Briana) Tuthill of Kewanee, three daughters, Donna (David) Edwards of Fayetteville, TN, Cheryl Bryant of Evansville, IN and Shelly (Daniel) Smith of Kewanee, a brother, Gene Bryant of Reynoldburg, OH, sixteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and his previous wife Cleo Hasselbacher of Evansville, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen Ethridge and two brothers, James Russell and Harold.
He was a tool grinder for 41 years at Caterpillar at the East Peoria Plant and retired in 1991. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Galesburg. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening and his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
