Wilson Covington came to Tippah County, MS, between 1850 and 1860. He was the son of Matthew and Elizabeth Capel Covington. They were living in Lannahasse, Georgia in 1836, when Matthew was killed by Indians. Elizabeth moved back to Richmond County North Carolina. Her father was W.C. Capel #8064287.
Wilson's siblings were Annie Elizabeth, Calvin, Terrell, Thomas Matthew, John, Henry and John A.
Wilson was living with his brother John A. Covington and family in Tippah County, Mississippi, when the 1860 Census was taken. On January 17, 1861, Wilson married Martha Susan Berry, daughter of David and Lucinda Halbert Berry. Wilson was a farmer and from the collection of trust deeds he left, served as a financier in the community. In 1874, Wilson purchased the property about five miles east of Ripley, MS, which in 2011 his descendants still own.
