Tractor Mishap Kills Farmer

George R Snell, 40-year-old dairyman and farmer, was found crushed to death under his tractor about 11 am, Monday on his farm in the Pine Bluff community, 30 miles west of here.

Mrs. Snell said her husband was cleaning out a creek bank with a bushhog when the tractor overturned on him. She said that he was supposed to have returned home at 11 am. When he failed to return, she went to look for him and found his body under the tractor.

Constable Charlie Walker ruled Mr. Snell's death was accidental.

Mr. Snell, who operated a dairy and raised cattle, was regarded as one of Clay County's most successful farmers.

Funeral services were conducted from the Pine Bluff Baptist Church in Clay County at 4 pm, Tuesday with the Rev. Cary Sansing officiating. Burial was in the Pine Bluff Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lucy Elmore Snell of Pine Bluff; a son, George R Snell, Jr., age nine, of Pine Bluff; a daughter, Barbara Ann, age 15, of Pine Bluff; his mother, Mrs. Lydia Snell of Pine Bluff; a brother, John Edd Snell of Pheba and a sister, Mrs. E H Harden of Atlanta, Ga.
