DONALD AGEE
OTTUMWA - Donald E. Agee, 71, of 522 E. Finley, died at 9:02 p.m. March 22, 2004, at Hospice House with his family at his side.
He was born April 19, 1932 in Ottumwa to Benjamin Franklin and Zadie May Rown Agee. He married Mary A. Smith July 29, 1956. A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1950, he had been a resident of Ottumwa all of his life, and had served in the U.S. Army. He had worked at John Morrell & Co., Ottumwa Water Works and Everco before his retirement. He was a life long member of Davis St. Christian Church where he had served as a deacon and trustee, and was also a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 114.
Surviving are two daughters, Sue (Dan) Weber of rural Hedrick and Connie Agee of Ottumwa; son, Don Agee Jr. of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Brandy (Chad) Septer, Austin Crowe, Mark Weber and Kortney Weber; great-grandson, Caden Septer; brother, Emmett Agee of Yuma, Ariz.; and four sisters, Lucille Teeter of Fairfield, Betty Lowe, Dorothy Canny and Martha Fort all of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Everett, Harold, Roy, Ralph and Orville Agee; and sister, Nellie Steuhm.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. Dan French officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation will begin 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Davis St. Christian Church or Hospice.
