Lillian Lucille Farrell of Rochester died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Charter House.

Lillian was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Savanna, Ill., daughter of Nonie (Tresidder) and William Farrell.

She graduated from Stillman Valley High School in Illinois and St. Luke's School of Nursing in Chicago, and received a B.A. degree from the College of St. Francis.

She spent her nursing career at St. Luke's Hospital and Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, from which she retired in 1987.

After retirement, she gave many hours volunteering at Methodist Hospital and the Rochester Civic Theater. Lillian was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church.

She is survived by a sister, Doris Foster of Rochelle, Ill.; and an extended family of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Lillian was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Florence Knapp and Mary Amesbury, and her brothers William and James.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Charter House Chapel, 211 2nd St. N.W., Rochester, on Dec. 5 at 12 p.m., with Rev. Douglas Sparks officiating.

Her family is grateful for the care and support she received from the Mayo physicians, Charter House staff, the Hospice program and the many friends in the community.
