W. H. Benninger Taken by Death
Aged Man Passea After Short Illness; Funeral Rites Indefinite

William H. Benninger, 72, a resident of Muscatine for 45 years, died at Hershey hospital at noon today. Mr. Benninger had been in failing health for some time and he suffered a stroke a week ago.

He was born in Baden, Germany, Oct. 25, 1861, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Benninger, coming to Muscatine 45 years ago. He married Miss Katherine Mauer about 42 years ago. Mr. Benninger had been a member of the former German Congregational church.

Surviving are his widow and seven children, George, of Muscatine; William, New York City; Edward, Dubuque; Albert, of near Ottumwa; Mrs. Ira Pike, Nichols; Mrs. Floyd Crow, Muscatine; and Miss Esther Benninger, at home.

The body is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral home, 216 West Third street, where it will remain pending funeral arrangements.

Benninger Services Planned Saturday

Funeral services for William H. Benninger, whose death occurred at Hershey hospital Wednesday, will be conducted at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Saturday by the Rev. Vernon Shontz, pastor of the First Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. John Blough, pastor of the Mulford Congregational church. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery. The body is at the Wittich home and will remain there until services.
