Laura Lutz, 95, of Scranton, died Monday at home following a yearlong illness. She was the widow of Frank Lutz.Born Oct. 22, 1914, in Scranton, daughter of the late George and Lulu Whitman Burkel, she was educated in Scranton schools and was employed by Grove Silk Mill of Dunmore.She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by family.The family wishes to thank Home Health Care Professionals of Carbondale for the exceptional care given by Kelly Durst, R.N., and Brenda Matechak, C.N.A., and the rest of the staff. The family would also like to thank Irene Smith of Telespond for her wonderful compassion.Surviving are a son, George R. Lutz and wife, LaRayne, Justus; a daughter, Mildred Holsomback and husband, Archie, Scranton; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.She was also preceded in death by a son, Frank Lutz; two daughters, Martha Capwell and Alberta Wright; and four grandsons.Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home, 1810 Sanderson Ave., Scranton, with the Rev. George Matthews of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Interment, Shoemaker Cemetery, Dalton.Friends may call Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Friday, 9:30 until the time of service.Memorial contributions may go to to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
