Mrs. Varner, a native of Buchanan county, died Sunday afternoon at a rest home in Kansas City after an illness of two years. She was the widow of Howard C. Varner, who died in 1941. He was owner of the Varner Furniture Co., at 4th and Jackson streets. The family home had been at 2733 Mitchell avenue since 1908.
A charter member of First Lutheran Church, Mrs. Varner belonged to the King's Daughters. She attended Dr. Martin's Young Ladies Institute in her youth.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. J. Robertson Clagett of Kansas City; one sister, Mrs. Frank M. Hanna of St Joseph; and two grandchildren." St Joseph News-Press, November 8, 1965
