"Peter D. Stinson, seventy-three years old, president of the Park Bank and the South St Joseph Building and Loan Association, died suddenly from a heart attack yesterday afternoon at 5:30 o'clock.

He was one of the oldest active bankers in the city, having been connected with the Park Bank on Tenth and Penn streets for forty-seven years. He joined this institution eight months after it was established. He was a charter member of the First English Lutheran Church.

Mr. Stinson, who was unmarried, resided with his sister, Mrs. Emma Varner, and her husband, H. C. Varner, 2733 Mitchell avenue. Two other sisters, Mrs. Kate Henderson and Mrs. Ida Hanna, both of St Joseph, also survive.

Mr. Stinson died as he was being carried from an ambulance into his home. He had been at work yesterday at the bank and about 4:30 o'clock, when he complained about not feeling well, Dr. Walter Hansen was summoned and advised that he be removed to his home.

The banker was born in St Joseph, a son of the late Ole O. Stinson and Laura Nelson Stinson, natives of Norway. He attended public schools here, was graduated from Central High School, and after a short time at college returned to Buchanan county to teach school and later to enter the employ of the bank.

The funeral will be Thursday morning at 10 o'clock at the family residence, the Rev. Harmon J. McGuire, pastor of the First English Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Nelson family cemetery on Ajax road." St Joseph News-Press, February 9, 1937
