"Word was received here of the death of J. Robertson Clagett by a cousin, Roy F. Nelson, of St Joseph. Mr. Clagett died Thursday at a hospital in Kansas City, Mo. He was 76 and had resided at 8369 Somerset Drive, Shawnee Mission, Kan.

Mr. Clagett served in the Judge Advocate Corps with the Army during World War II. He was one of the prosecuting attorneys during the war crimes trials at Nuremberg, Germany.

He was born in Sedalia, Mo., and had formerly lived in St Joseph where his father, Dr. D. M. Clagett, was pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. He had resided in Shawnee Mission since 1932. Mr. Clagett was a practicing attorney for 52 years, retiring in 1984 as a senior partner with the law firm of Lathrop, Koontz, Righter, Clagett, Parker and Norquist.

In 1926, he graduated from Westminster College at Fulton, Mo. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Delta Honorary fraternity and the Beta Theta Pi social fraternity. In 1932, he graduated from the Washington University Law School at St Louis, Mo., where he was a member of the Phi Delta Phi honorary fraternity.

He was a member of the Kansas and Missouri Bar Associations; the American Judicature Society; a member and past president of the Lawyers Association of Kansas City, Mo.; a member of the Kansas City Club; and past president of the Rockhill Tennis Club. Mr. Clagett was a member of the Country Club Congregational Church of Kansas City, Mo.

Surviving are his wife, Lalla S. Varner Clagett of the home; a son, Thomas Peter Clagett of Lansing, Kan.; a daughter, Laura Clagett Thorsell of Mission Hills, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Country Club Congregational Church at Kansas City, Mo. The body was cremated." St Joseph News-Press, March 23, 1985
