PFC E3-Infantryman. KIA. Company C, 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air mobile), U.S. Army. BSM, PH, AM, GCM, MMBadge, CIB.
PFC Vollmerhausen was killed by NVA fire in Operation Lamar Plain when the 101st Airborne Division was sent to provide support to the Americal Division. PFC Vollmerhausen was featured in the June 27, 1969 cover article of LIFE magazine entitled "The Faces of the American Dead in Vietnam: One Week's Toll."
