Visitation for Roy D. Zelhart, 70, of Bonfield, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. He died Saturday (Sept. 30, 2006) at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. Mr. Zelhart was retired from Kankakee Spring Wire. He had also worked at Roper Corporation in Kankakee for 30 years.
He was born Jan. 12, 1936, in Kankakee, the son of Laurence E. and Martha Hopper Zelhart. He was a member of the South Wilmington Sportman's Club and Ducks Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and hunting. Surviving are his wife, the former Hope Davis, whom he married Sept. 1, 1955, in Kankakee; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Laurence E. and Roxanne Zelhart of Bourbonnais, Roy E. Zelhart of Bonfield; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Patricia Ann Gray of Clifton, Marjorie Lynn Fear of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Pamela and Dave Wolford of Chebanse, Anna Marie and Donn Kane of Bourbonnais; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Jean Clutz of Buckingham; and one brother and sister-in-law, Roger E. and Debra Zelhart of Bonfield.
