Remedios Z. "Med" Abad, 73, of Bremerton died Dec. 15, 2002, at her home after a 12-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
She was born March 7, 1929, in Manila, Philippines, to Lorenzo and Beatrice Zabala. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in education from Cosmopolitan University of Manila in 1950 and taught kindergarten in Manila.
She married Jesus Abad on Oct. 28, 1957, in Manila. She was a devoted wife and mother.
Mrs. Abad was an active member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton. She sang in a choir at the church and participated in the Legion of Mary.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard and Douglas Abad, both of Burien; one daughter, Eleanor Ficca and her husband, John, of Gig Harbor; one brother, Antonio Zabala of the Philippines; and two sisters, Felicidad Pascua and Paz Mercado, both of the Philippines.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. nightly at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, through Dec. 23. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road NE in east Bremerton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home in Bremerton.
