Major League Baseball Player. Nicknamed "Sunset Jimmy". Played Major League Baseball as a 3rd Baseman for 7 seasons (1898-1899, 1901-1905) with the Cleveland Spiders (Indians), St. Louis Cardinals (Perfectos), Milwaukee Brewers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Played sparingly for his 1st five seasons with the his various teams, he became the Cardinals starting 3rd Baseman in 1902, and held that position for the next three years. He was a poor hitter, however, and ended his playing career after the 1905 season. He also managed the Cards that year, and would return to manager them from 1918 to 1920. From 1931-1933, he was the 3rd base coach for the New York Yankee team lead by Hall of Famers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. His playing career totals were 550 Games Played, 475 Hits, 200 Runs, 1 Home Run and a .244 Career Batting Average.
