Mildred Oliver Meriwether was born on Oct. 1, 1854, at her family's plantation, "Silverton," located a few miles east of Senatobia in Tate County, Miss. Her parents were James Oliver Meriwether and Lucy Meriwether Johnson.

"Millie" married James Tate Gabbert, a Senatobia merchant, on Nov. 23, 1876, at Silverton. They continued to live in Senatobia and raised ten children. Mrs. Gabbert was an active member of the Methodist Church.

She died on June 21, 1935, in Memphis, Tenn.
