Decatur Daily Review, Decatur, Illinois, 12 May 1944 - Mrs. Bernice Abercrombie of near Gays, has recently received word from the War Department that her son, Ens. Guy C. Abercrombie of the Merchant Marines, is reported missing in action in the North Atlantic.
Ensign Abercrombie recently graduated from the U. S. Maritime Officers' School, acquiring his license and commission as assistant engineer.
Guy is a graduate of Windsor Community High School and enlisted in the Merchant Marines in 1936. He leaves his mother, a sister, Mrs. Edmund Tomer of Chicago, his wife Kay of New York and daughter Shirley Anne.
