Leonard J. ''Len'' Deney, age 73, died Friday in Biloxi.
Mr. Deney was a native of Buffalo, New York and had been a resident of the Gulf Coast for 10 years. He had retired from the U.S. Navy after 22 years of service. He was a Naval Aviator and Ordinance Officer. After retirement from the Navy in 1964, he served in several executive level positions with Olan Mathison and then Johns Manville until 1988.
Mr. Deney received his master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering and Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. He also was a graduate of the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California. He served aboard the USS Helena and was one of the first to fly jet aircraft for carrier service for the Chance Vaught Cutlass.
His survivors include his wife, Jeannette Deney of Biloxi; his mother, Rae Meyer of Gulfport; a son, Joe Deney of St. Louis, Mo.; two daughters, Gina Deney of Philadelphia, PA., and Carol Hanks of Monore, LA.; a brother, John Deney of Easley, S.C.; and three grandchildren.
Friends may call Tuesday, October 20, 1998, from 12 noon until service time at 1:45 p.m. at the Riemann Funeral Home Chapel, 274 Beauvoir Road, Biloxi. Burial will follow in the Biloxi National Cemetery.
