From Holland St. John - "Eliza was born August 7, 1838 in Posey County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Francis and Sarah Jane (Jackson) Allyn. The Allyn family was part of a group of pioneers who migrated to southwestern Indiana in the early 1800s. A number of Allyns established farms in Black and Lynn Townships around 1825. Little is know about Eliza's youth, but on November 4, 1858, when she was nineteen years of age, she married Nathan H. Johnson in Posey County. Nathan was also nineteen (born September 27, 1839) and the son of D. Franklin and Dorcus (Duckworth) Johnson. Nathan homesteaded in Lynn Township near Farmersville and they raised their children on the farm he developed. These included: Charles (born 1859); Josephine (born 1861); Morton (born 1863); Robert (born 1865); Clark (born 1869); Dorcus J. (born 1872); and Pleeman (born 1876). Eliza's husband Nathan passed away on October 3, 1879 in Lynn Township, Posey County and is buried in Moore Cemetery located north of the city of Mount Vernon, Indiana. Eliza continued living on the family farm and never remarried, according the U S Census records. On 23 March 1910 Eliza died and is interred next to her husband in the Moore cemetery."
