Amos P. Burrell Sr., 87, of Chattanooga, TN passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2010.
Mr. Burrell was born in Ivy, TN to William and Malissia Burrell.
He was a U.S. Army WWII Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre, belonged to the Civilian Conservation Corps, and was retired from Standard Coosa Thatcher as a machine operator. He also attended Philadelphia Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, James Burrell.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ella Burrell; children, Amos P. (Debbie) Burrell Jr., Sharon E. (Gary) Winnie, Connie J. (Lee) McDade and John (Jennifer) Burrell; grandchildren, Matthew P. Burrell, Gary D. Winnie Jr., Malissa A. Winnie, Evan A. Burrell and Owen P. Burrell; sister, Avis Ballew; sister-in-law, Violet Burrell; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 1 to 3 and 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at the funeral home with Rev. Raymond Nix and Pastor Robert Borders officiating.
Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory & Florist, 404 S. Moore Road, East Ridge, TN.
